It uses a massive, flawless ruby to trigger and focus the high energy beam.

A glorious, hand-crafted, extremely valuable pendant light with rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and amethyst gems all painstakingly assembled into a stained glass display! The Ember Core has been gloriously repurposed to provide a brilliant, cascading light that dances around the trap.
