Very little is properly known about this mouse. The records that were recovered from the library state that during one of Zugzwang's experiments, this mouse was accidentally pulled into reality, or almost... It would seem that anytime this mouse is caught, it soon returns. Maybe there are a legion of them loosely poised on the edge of our reality or perhaps there is just the one haunting mouse wandering Zugzwang's property. We may never know...

Most of the magical mice infesting Zugzwang's library are created by Zurreal who manipulates the magic of the tomes to spring to life devious servants. Some of the tomes have been so twisted by dark magic that mice seem to spring from these dangerous books at an unimaginable rate.

This mindless construct is effectively a walking magic battery. Its technology allows it to travel around Zugzwang's library literally pulling the magic from ancient tomes. As the pure magic is absorbed, it is processed and stored within the magical shell of the mouse. Due to the imperfect nature of the magic refinement process it tends to look unstable, flaring into small bubbling sparks that give this mouse his odd name. Once an Effervescent Mouse has gathered enough magic it will report to its creator Zurreal the Eternal for siphoning.

These little guys were some of Zurreal the Eternal's first creations. Zugzwang's magical library is so expansive that parts of it are still unexplored; it is much bigger on the inside than on the outside. Legions of these mice are created to travel the great halls and map the tower, but their efforts continue to fail. Either the creations are not intelligent enough to map out the library effectively, or the library's magics make it impossible to reach the ends.

These magical sprites are created as tireless assistants by Zurreal the Eternal. Simple-minded and very tiny, they tend to travel in packs to accomplish the various tasks put forth by their dark master; be that collecting far off tomes of knowledge, repairing his throne or pillaging the daring hunter. Because these magical constructs are not actually living, they fear nothing. If they see cheese on a trap they will not hesitate to swarm it. Be warned!

A combination of magic and technology provided by Zurreal, this mouse has been influential in his efforts to break into Zugzwang's library. Fortunately, no living mouse can enter the library due to the powerful magical shields guarding the space. Unfortunately, that doesn't prevent a clever non-living construct from slipping through the defenses and letting in the more destructive creations from these relentless foes.

Designed to adapt and camouflage itself as all known breeds of mice, it lives among them in order to analyze and document different mouse behaviours in the wild. Advanced defences make it uncatchable to stay out of hunters' traps, and equally advanced weaponry defends itself against suspicious adversaries.

The perfect mouse... A little TOO perfect. Once the behavioural modules went live, it became sentient, with the belief that it actually was a unique, wild breed of mouse! It easily broke free and has avoided all attempts at recapture.

This "new" breed is next to impossible to find. Recent sightings show that it seems to have made some improvements on itself and the M400 has been spotted in multiple regions simultaneously. Leading us to believe it has some how figured out how to clone itself... What have we done!?
