Gamla Uppsala
The name of the region to the north of Stockholm. Until the middle ages, it was considered the center of Northern European culture and hosted the castle and mausoleum of the kings of Sweden. Nearby is Uppsula University, the oldest University in Europe. Also, several influential men originated here, like Axel Gustafsson Oxenstierna, right hand man to Gustavus Adolphus.
