Monasteries of Mount Athos
Monasteries located on the Athos Peninsula and Mount Athos area, east of Salonika. The area contains large monasteries as well as small houses where monks lived in. Although Virgin Mary is the patron saint of the area, females are not permitted to enter the mountain area; only males are permitted to enter.
