The Bosphorus
The northernmost of the two channels separating Europe and the Anatolian Peninsula. During the battle of Constantinople, a fierce battle was fought over the Golden Horn in order to control the fast flowing waters of the channel. The Turkish army built fortresses along both shorelines as the first line of attack.
